Wind turbine simulation of the Digital Twin

Every two years, Leibniz University (LUH) holds an open day and welcomes numerous visitors to lectures, guided tours, experiments, exhibitions and hands-on activities. The CRC was once again represented by various institutes.

As part of November of Science, the ‘A Night Out with Science’ took place again at LUH on 8 November 2025. Citizens and university members were invited to experience science first-hand at Leibniz University and to get actively involved themselves. This year, the Faculty of Civil Engineering – home to numerous institutes of the Collaborative Research Centre – once again welcomed around 500 visitors to the hydraulic engineering hall of the Ludwig Franzius Institute.

Among others, the Central Project Z01 was represented again, where current simulation results and the basic concept of the digital twin were presented to the audience. Together with colleagues from the Institute of Structural Analysis, visitors were also able to experience real-time damage detection on a demonstrator.
